Free AI Visibility Checker
See whether ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Gemini, Perplexity, Copilot and Claude can reach, read and trust your website, then test what they actually say about your brand.
What is AI visibility?
AI visibility is how easily AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Google's AI Overviews and AI Mode, Gemini, Perplexity, Microsoft Copilot and Claude can find your website, understand who you are and recommend or quote you.
It isn't the same as a Google ranking. It depends on whether AI crawlers are allowed to read your pages, whether your content is in the HTML rather than built by JavaScript, whether structured data names your business clearly, and whether trusted sources across the web agree about you.
How this checker is different
Most AI visibility checkers only hand you a few prompts to try in ChatGPT. This one does that too, with eight buying-journey questions across six assistants, but first it audits your site the way AI crawlers see it.
- Reads your robots.txt like Google does (RFC 9309) for 19 AI crawlers and agents, and separates search, on-request and training bots.
- Shows how much of your page is readable without JavaScript, which most AI crawlers can't run.
- Checks schema.org entities, sameAs profiles, llms.txt, your XML sitemap, freshness and trust signals: 30+ checks in all.
- Scores your readiness for ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Gemini, Perplexity, Copilot and Claude separately.
- Writes the fixes for you: robots.txt lines, a first llms.txt and Organization schema built from your own page.
How to improve your AI visibility
- Let AI search crawlers in: allow Googlebot, Bingbot, OAI-SearchBot, ChatGPT-User, PerplexityBot and Claude-SearchBot in robots.txt.
- Put your content in the HTML: use server-side rendering or static pages so crawlers that don't run JavaScript can read it.
- Describe your business as an entity: Organization or LocalBusiness schema with your logo, contact details and sameAs links to your profiles.
- Answer real questions: question headings, a direct answer in the first sentences, and an FAQ section.
- Be specific and current: numbers, prices, dates and sources, with a visible “updated” date.
- Earn mentions on trusted sites: reviews, directories, press and partners, so AI tools find the same facts about you everywhere.
- Publish llms.txt and keep your XML sitemap up to date.
AI crawlers: what each one does
Blocking a crawler only affects what it powers. The ones that bring you into AI answers are search and on-request agents; training crawlers decide whether your pages help train future models.
| Crawler | Company | What it powers | If you block it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Googlebot | Google Search, AI Overviews and AI Mode | You disappear from Google, including its AI answers | |
| Google-Extended | Gemini apps and Vertex AI grounding; model training | Gemini can't ground answers in your pages; Google Search is unaffected | |
| Bingbot | Microsoft | Bing and Microsoft Copilot; also used by ChatGPT search | You fade from Copilot and partly from ChatGPT search |
| OAI-SearchBot | OpenAI | ChatGPT search results | ChatGPT search can't show or link your pages |
| ChatGPT-User | OpenAI | Pages ChatGPT opens when a user asks | ChatGPT can't read your page on request |
| GPTBot | OpenAI | Training OpenAI models | Your pages stay out of training; ChatGPT search is unaffected |
| PerplexityBot | Perplexity | Perplexity's answer index | Perplexity can't cite your pages |
| Claude-SearchBot | Anthropic | Claude's search results | Claude's search can't show your pages |
| ClaudeBot | Anthropic | Training Anthropic models | Your pages stay out of training |
| Applebot | Apple | Siri, Spotlight and Apple Intelligence answers | Apple's assistants can't use your pages |
Frequently asked questions
What is an AI visibility checker?
An AI visibility checker tests whether AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google's AI Overviews can find, read and trust your website, and what they say about your brand. This one audits your site for 19 AI crawlers and 30+ signals, scores you for six assistants and gives you ready-made fixes.
How is the AI visibility score calculated?
The site audit scores six areas: crawler access (30%), readable content (25%), entity and schema signals (20%), llms.txt and sitemap (10%), trust (8%) and technical health (7%). Each check passes, needs improvement or fails. If you mark what AI assistants say about you in step 2, the overall score blends 70% audit with 30% of those answers.
If I block GPTBot, will ChatGPT stop showing my site?
No. GPTBot only collects pages for training OpenAI models. ChatGPT search uses OAI-SearchBot and, when a user asks it to open a page, ChatGPT-User. You can block GPTBot and still appear in ChatGPT answers, as long as those two are allowed.
Does Google use a separate crawler for AI Overviews?
No. AI Overviews and AI Mode use the normal Googlebot index, so a page that can rank on Google can be used there unless it has nosnippet or noindex. Google-Extended is separate: it controls whether your pages are used for Gemini apps and Vertex AI grounding and for training, not AI Overviews.
What is llms.txt, and do I need one?
llms.txt is a short Markdown file at your site's root that tells AI tools what your site is and which pages matter most. It's a proposed standard that not every AI engine reads yet, so it isn't required, but it's quick to add and costs nothing. The checker writes you a first draft.
Why does JavaScript matter for AI visibility?
Most AI crawlers, including GPTBot, ClaudeBot and PerplexityBot, read the HTML your server sends and don't run JavaScript. If your text is added by JavaScript after the page loads, they see an almost empty page. Server-side rendering or static HTML fixes it.
Is my data stored?
No. The page you enter is fetched once, analysed in your browser and then discarded. Your step-2 answer marks are kept only in your own browser.
Is the AI Visibility Checker free?
Yes, completely free with no sign-up. To keep it fast for everyone, each visitor can run up to 40 checks an hour.
